Proms in the Park returned to Taunton as the result of a partnership between Taunton Flower Show, OrchestraWest and Amici in 2009. The event will again take place in 2010. Using one of the Show marquees, a medley of classical and stirring music will entertain a large crowd on Sunday evening, 8th August. Proms patrons are encouraged to picnic in the Park before joining others for the covered performance which will culminate in the traditional sing along to favourites such as "Land of Hope and Glory" and "Rule Britannia" under the musical direction of John Cole. OrchestraWest is the only professional Symphony Orchestra in the southwest, dedicated to playing the great symphonies, concertos and other large scale orchestral music. The orchestra is based in Taunton and has been steadily building audiences since its foundation in 2006.

Amici Choir is based in Taunton but performs throughout the country and overseas. Founded in 1994 by John Cole, the choir draws on a wide network of friends in various areas of choral music.
